I am a full-time teacher and part-time artist. My interests range from portraiture and figure painting to etching out the eerie. I am very engaged by horror films, ghost stories and other scary scenarios. I work at my Great Grandmother Emily's old family table and am surrounded by antiques, plants, a few creepy dolls, cats and the occasional bump in the night.
I enjoy old movie monsters and current ones, too. At present, I prefer to make pieces that are smaller...while more challenging, I think a tiny silhouette of Freddy Krueger is more attractive than a large portrait on the mantle. My mantra is "keep it PRETTY scary". In other words, I like an attractive piece that just hints at our dark side...
